NICK OLIVERI Says It's All Good With MONDO GENERATOR

August 14, 2007

Shehzaad Jiwani of ChartAttack.com reports: Ex-KYUSS and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE bassist Nick Oliveri recently released his latest album, "Dead Planet", in North America. Though it's been out in the U.K. for a year, it feels like a new beginning for him.

"This is the first thing I'm putting out after the whole QUEENS thing," the bald, goateed musician states. "I demoed some acoustic stuff, I played some dates with Brant Bjork and Mark Lanegan for a while, I just messed around here and there.

"That was just to keep my mind off things and keep playing. It helped out. This is the first thing where it was heavy drums, bass and guitar, so I thought it was important to get out something that I thought was good that had all different flavours that was real sincere."

The album is Oliveri's third under the MONDO GENERATOR moniker, which he started as a side project during QUEENS' downtime, but is now his full-time job.

"It took a while for it to become that and evolve into what it is, but it is what it is, and I've accepted that," says Oliveri. "It was hard to let go of it as a side project because it's nice to have multiple options and have different things to do."
