NIGHTWISH Pick Up Five Awards At Finland's EMMA-GAALA
February 27, 2005NIGHTWISH won five prizes at at the Emma-Gaala (Finnish Grammy Awards-equivalent),which were held Saturday (Feb. 26) at Kulttuuritalolla in Helsinki. According to a posting on the group's web site, the Tarja Turunen-fronted outfit took home the awards for Finland Metal Album Of The Year (for "Once"),Best Selling Album, Band Of The Year, Export-Emma and Best Finnish Artist (as voted by the public).
As previously reported, "Once" has been certified triple-platinum in NIGHTWISH's native Finland for sales in excess of 90,000 copies. The follow-up to 2002's "Century Child", "Once" was previously certified platinum in Germany for sales in excess of 200,000 copies.
