NIKKI SIXX Calls New Album One Of MTLEY CRE's Best
June 11, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports: MTLEY CRE has begun streaming a new song called "Mutherfucker of the Year" at the band's official MySpace page. The track is taken from the group's new album, "Saints of Los Angeles", which is due out on June 24. The disc is the first to feature the original CRE lineup since 1997's "Generation Swine", and bassist Nikki Sixx told The Pulse of Radio that he's especially proud of this one. "I think it's one of the best MTLEY CRE albums that we've made. Me and Mick (Mars, guitarist) were very clear on what we wanted to do musically in the beginning process of writing. It's raw, it's dirty, it's MTLEY CRE, and then the concept for me as a lyricist was theme-based, which was to loosely base it on the concept of (the band's 2001 memoir) 'The Dirt'. It's the story of our life."
"Saints of Los Angeles" will be released nearly a week earlier, on June 18, in Japan, where it will contain two live bonus cuts.
The album's title track and first single is selling well thanks to both Rock Band and Guitar Hero. According to RollingStone.com, it sold five times more copies through Rock Band as it did on iTunes after a month.
MTLEY CRE's festival tour, called Cre Fest, kicks off on July 1st in West Palm Beach, Florida, with BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH, TRAPT and Sixx's side project SIXX: A.M. also appearing on the 40-city run.
