NIKKI SIXX, KAT VON D To Hold Benefit Event At West Hollywood's Carmichael Gallery
November 29, 2008MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx and his girlfriend, Kat Von D, star of the TLC show "L.A. Ink", will hold a benefit event for Covenant House on December 2 at the Carmichael Gallery in West Hollywood, California.
Commented Nikki: The idea started when I told her about Running Wild In The Night, which is the music program I started with Covenant House a few years back.
"While I was on tour, she told me about her idea to draw 66 'Nikkis' (graphite on paper) and showcase her art to the world. Not only am I honored to have my girlfriend support this program, but to have a great artist draw 66 portraits of me pretty much blows my mind.
"I hope you join Katherine and I for the showing of her art at the Carmichael Gallery in West Hollywood. It's right next door to High Voltage Tattoo.
"She will be selling prints of the originals.
"I hope you come out and give the kids at Covenant House an early X-mas gift of support. 100% of the money will go to Running Wild In The Night and Covenant House.
"Both Katherine and I will be there..."
Kat added: "During the time Nikki was out on the road with Crüe Fest was about the time I began sketching these portraits of Nikki. It was a good way to pass some time in between shooting scenes for the show, and still be creative, while missing him. I had no 'real' plan for these sketches, until Nikki and I started talkin' about the latest project he had been working on with the folks down at the Covenant House (charity organization that helps runaway teens).
"So I made some time to get my ass down there and check out what the facility is all about, and it blew my mind! The amount of time, energy and love that is put into these homeless kids was so uplifting.
"After meeting a few of the kids briefly, and checking out the music room (which is under much construction),and talking to the head of the organization, I KNEW I wanted to do something!
"The 66 pieces will be up for public viewing at Carmichael Gallery right next door to the shop (High Voltage Tattoo),and will also have prints of each of them available for sale — with 100% of the proceeds goin' to Running Wild in The Night (the program Nikki founded at Covenant House).
"There are sketches of Nikki from when he was a little boy, to his mug shot, to silly to serious portraits… all fun!
"Hope you guys can join Nikki and I and enjoy these drawings — everyone is invited!"
