NIKKI SIXX: Plans For MÖTLEY CRÜE Reunion Are 'Out Of My Control'

June 20, 2003

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx was asked during a recent interview with Request magazine if a reunion of the band's original lineup was likely to happen in the not-too-distant future. "I like to make decisions based on what's right and what's wrong for MÖTLEY CRÜE," he replied. "At some point, I think we would all like to play live again. Whether or not that happens, it's out of my control. Either [MÖTLEY CRÜE singer] Vince Neil's going to get sober and really lean and come back and kick ass like only Vince Neil can do — because he's a badass mofo when he's got his shit together — or it's not happening. That's where [drummer] Tommy [Lee]'s at, too. Unless it's 1989 on steroids, I'm not interested in doing it."

In other news, Sixx's new band BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION — in which he is joined by L.A. GUNS guitarist Tracii Guns, vocalist London LeGrand, and drummer Scot Coogan (ex-PAUL GILBERT, ONI LOGAN/ROWAN ROBERTSON, SINÉAD O'CONNOR) — will play a one-off gig on Saturday, July 26 at The Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, California as part of an N.Sixx clothing (Nikki's recently launched clothing line) industry event.

The following is Sixx's latest posting to the "Rock'n'Roll Diary" section of CRÜE's official web site:

"Received a great call from Larry Flynt's office. There [sic] giving Hustler magizine [sic] a facelift. They've always used just woman [sic] on the cover (except when MÖTLEY CRÜE was on in 1997). They asked me and [wife] Donna to do the cover together (shot yesterday) and the interview is pretty extensive on both our on going projects and life. We had a blast to say the least…. nothing to get excited about in Hustler tradition for us of course. Larry is and will always be a icon of independence, so it was a honor to do the mag. Since there's a shift in image for the mag I'm sure there will be a lot of press that will include Donna and myself… I believe the mag comes out in Sept.

"I've been burning the candle at both ends wrapping up business because were going to check out for 2 weeks and go hide in Mexico. No cells, no managers, no Internet. No business. No nuthing…

"See ya soon… N6"
