NINE INCH NAILS: High-Definition Video Footage From 'Lights In The Sky' Tour Available
January 7, 2009High-definition video footage of NINE INCH NAILS' recent concerts in Victoria (Dec. 5),Portland (Dec. 7) and Sacramento (Dec. 12) have been made available for free download at the band's official forum.
NIN mainman Trent Reznor writes on the group's web site. "The internet is full of surprises these days.
"I was contacted by a mysterious, shadowy group of subversives who SOMEHOW managed to film a substantial amount (over 400 GB!) of raw, unedited HD footage from three separate complete shows of our 'Lights in the Sky' tour. Security must have been lacking at these shows because the quality of the footage is excellent.
"If any of you could find a LINK to that footage I'll bet some enterprising fans could assemble something pretty cool.
"Oh yeah, you didn't hear this from me."
Trent Reznor spoke to Pink Is The New Blog in his backstage dressing room on December 13, 2008 right before the final show of the NIN "Lights In The Sky Over North America Tour" in Las Vegas. Watch the 12-minute chat below.
Alessandro Cortini, keyboard player for NINE INCH NAILS, announced last month that he was leaving the band to concentrate on his own projects. He said in a statement, "It's been exactly four years since I joined NINE INCH NAILS and the time has come for me to move onto new things. I feel a need to explore other paths in music and life which leads me to leave the tour at this stage. I am grateful of the chance i was given: it doesn't happen every day to be able to work next to some of the most talented people on this planet. Trent and Co. have been aware of this decision of mine for a while now and are prepared to take the band to the next step. Thanks to all the fans who welcomed me at the beginning of my journey and supported me through the years: I hope to see you around here or there."
Trent Reznor revealed at the Las Vegas concert that the group will hit the road in Australia in January as a four-piece.
NINE INCH NAILS has tapped LOSTPROPHETS' Ilan Rubin to handle the drum duties for the group on the road beginning in early 2009.
Josh Freese, who made his final appearance with NINE INCH NAILS in Las Vegas on December 13, played with the band for the last three years, joining the lineup in late 2005.
