NINE INCH NAILS Mainman Comments On Split With Manager

May 17, 2005

Launch Radio Networks reports: NINE INCH NAILS' Trent Reznor surprised many fans and industry observers last year when he parted ways with longtime manager and business partner John Malm. Reznor told Launch that he appreciated Malm's previous dedication to his career, but after going through rehab to kick substance addictions he realized that the association had become counter-productive. "After I got sober, I got rid of my longest friend and partner, manager," he said. "I could see the relationship was unhealthy. I could see how I kinda went crazy when we got famous, but in clarity I could see how he got crazy in his own way. Now that I'm back on Earth and a rational person that needs to be dealt with like a rational person, it was more than our relationship could bear because he wasn't ready to make that shift."

In May of 2004, Reznor filed suit against Malm, and his business manager/accountant Richard Szekelyi, for several million dollars he says they owe him. Malm has countered that Reznor owes him more than $2 million in unpaid commissions.

NINE INCH NAILS' new album, "With Teeth", debuted at Number One on The Billboard 200 chart in its first week of release.
