NIRVANA 2002: Reunion Performance Footage Available Online

February 1, 2007

The complete three-song reunion performance from classic Swedish death metallers NIRVANA 2002 at Stockholm's Kafé 44 on January 26 has been posted online at YouTube.com.

The NIRVANA 2002 show featured original members Orvar Säfström (better known in metal circles as the singer on ENTOMBED's "Crawl" EP) and Lars Henriksson. Robert Ericsson of THE HELLACOPTERS filled in on drums.

NIRVANA 2002 was active 1988-1992 and is considered to be one of the most legendary unsigned bands of the first wave of Swedish death metal. This reunion show was the group's first live performance ever.

In addition to NIRVANA 2002, the Kafé 44 concert included reunion performances by GROTESQUE — featuring ex-AT THE GATES/THE CROWN frontman Tomas Lindberg — and INTERMENT. The show was staged to celebrate the publication of the "Swedish Death Metal" book by INSISION bassist Daniel Ekeroth. A poster for the gig can be found at this location. Watch footage of GROTESQUE performing the song "Blood Runs from the Altar" at YouTube.com.
