NIRVANA Documentary Screening Today In Texas

March 15, 2007

Launch Radio Networks reports: A new documentary about late NIRVANA frontman Kurt Cobain, titled "Kurt Cobain: About A Son", was screened today (Thursday, March 15) at 11:00 a.m. in Austin, Texas as part of the South By Southwest music and film conference. For most of the movie, the only voice heard is that of Cobain himself, played over footage shot mainly in the three Washington state towns where Cobain lived — Aberdeen, Olympia, and Seattle. The movie's score was co-written by DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE frontman Ben Gibbard.

The recordings of Cobain's voice are taken from a series of interviews with journalist Michael Azerrad that formed the basis of Azerrad's book on NIRVANA, "Come As You Are".

Azerrad will introduce the film and hold a Q&A session afterwards. He said about the documentary, "It's an intense movie, and I'm really proud of what the director, A.J. Schnack, achieved."

There's no word on whether "About A Son" will receive a theatrical release.
