No Awkardness Between SCOTT WEILAND And VELVET REVOLVER

November 6, 2014

The Classic Rock Roll Of Honour awards were held in Hollywood this past Tuesday (November 4) and the event saw performances by Scott Weiland's new band, THE WILDABOUTS, and KINGS OF CHAOS, which features former GUNS N' ROSES members Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan. Scott, Matt and Duff, of course, all worked together in VELVET REVOLVER until the former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman was fired from the group in April 2008. So is it awkward for them to see each other at shows like this?

"You know, at this point in my career, I just want to have fun," Sorum told VH1 Radio Network's Dave Basner at the event. "I've got a beautiful wife, I just got married, it's all, like, I just want to be like a kid again, play rock and roll, make a couple of bucks, and just enjoy life. That wasn’t always enjoyable, so that's kind of what happened there. We made good music and, you know, this life's so short you just want to have the most amount of fun possible so that's what I'm doing with KINGS OF CHAOS."

Scott seems to be okay hanging around the guys too. His response to being asked if it's at all awkward running into his former bandmates was as follows: "No, not at all. We've done a couple shows together before in the last couple of years and, it's, like, with bands, you never know."

VELVET REVOLVER still hasn't found a replacement for Scott, but all the members are working on music with other projects. As for Weiland, he plans to release a new album with THE WILDABOUTS early next year.
