No Montreal's HEAVY MTL Festival This Year

April 19, 2009

According to Voir.ca, the organizers of Montreal, Quebec, Canada's Heavy MTL festival have abandoned plans to stage another edition of the event this year.

"We are very pleased with the [success of the] first edition, but with all metal concerts already scheduled in Montreal this year (KISS, TESTAMENT, LAMB OF GOD, METALLICA, SLIPKNOT, DISTURBED and probably AC/DC),we prefer to return in full force next year," explained Christine Montreuil of the Groupe Spectacles Gillett.

The first Heavy MTL festival was held June 21-22, 2008 at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and was reportedly attended by 36,000 people over two days.

Last year's concert included performances by MÖTLEY CRÜE, DISTURBED, IRON MAIDEN, HATEBREED, ANTHRAX and VOIVOD, among others.
