NOCTURNAL RITES: In Writing Mode
October 21, 2010Swedish power metallers NOCTURNAL RITES have issued the following update:
"We are currently writing songs for the new album and rehearsing for the gig at the SABATON cruise in Stockholm on December 2.
"The songwriting is going well. We have lots of new material for our ninth studio album. We have some really dark and aggressive stuff written as well as some more melodic, so this new album will definitely cater to all aspects of the NOCTURNAL RITES legacy!
We also played some live shows with our new guitarist Chris Rörland [TME]. This guy really did a great job, entering the stage for the first time as a new member of the band and he kicked ass from the beginning to the end! Not showing any fear at all, he just went for it, crazy but still being 100% professional. Even after a few shows it feels like he's been in the band for ages. So we are extremely happy."
NOCTURNAL RITES previously stated about the material that has been completed for the follow-up to 2007's "The 8th Sin", "We have some really dark and aggressive stuff written as well as some more melodic, so this new album will definitely cater to all aspects of the NOCTURNAL RITES legacy! [It sounds] a little [like we're going] back to the darker 'Afterlife' [2000] days mixed with some trademark NOCTURNAL RITES catchy melodies — those that can never go wrong!"
Guitarist Nils Norberg announced his departure from NOCTURNAL RITES in June 2008. "I have decided to lay down the guitar as my interest for music kind of cooled down the last years," he said in a statement.
"The 8th Sin" in 2007 landed on the Japanese album chart at position No. 68 (No. 28 on "international" chart).
