NOCTURNAL RITES Named Best Swedish Metal Band

December 7, 2005

Tartarean Desire is reporting that NOCTURNAL RITES were honored as the "best Swedish metal band" by the Swedish national radio P4's show "Dist". The band received their award from the hands of SAXON frontman Biff Byford during the program's live broadcast of Sweden Rock Festival's kick-off party at the Globe annex in Stockholm on Saturday (Dec. 3).

"It feels awesome", the band's bassist Nils Eriksson said from the stage before a crowd of more than 3,000.

2005 was an especially busy year for NOCTURNAL RITES. In addition to writing and recording their current album, "Grand Illusion", the band performed with the Symphony Orchestra at NorrlandsOperan, toured Europe and Sweden and recently shot the second video off the new CD, for the song "Still Alive".

NOCTURNAL RITES have lined up a few more Swedish shows before the end of the year:

Dec. 15 - Göteborg, SWE @ Musikens Hus
Dec. 16 - Kalmar, SWE @ Palace
Dec. 17 - Örebro, SWE @ Satin
