NOMINON: Former Guitarist/Vocalist Explains His Departure

Guitarist/vocalist Jonas Mattsson has issued the following statement regarding his departure from the Swedish death metal band NOMINON:

"To part with something you have given your whole life and was ready to die for is of course never easy. I have so many memories I gladly share over a beer. But as time goes on and you realize your screams are unheard still, after so many hours of riffing and so much money spent without getting anything back I guess everyone has a limit. I just passed mine. Well, actually, I must have reached this limit a long time ago.

"When we were writing new songs I didn't have any inspiration, the riffs I had to offer were over three years old and at the moment I don't think I could even write a three-chord song. But I am glad to see that Juha has more inspiration than ever, and his newer material will surely blaspheme every wimp with short hair.

"Of course, I wish the guys in NOMINON the best of luck and I hope, no, I CRAVE that they have all the success I wanted (and more) while playing in the band. And I am sure Lenny is with me on that one.

"For those who think I have left the scene, forget that!!! At the moment I am moshing in INCINERATOR, puking in SARGATANS REIGN and getting wasted in RISE AND SHINE."

NOMINON's current lineup is as follows:

Juha Sulasalmi - guitar/vocals
Joel Andersson - bass
Perra Karlsson - drums

As previously reported, NOMINON are currently "discussing the final details about a European tour as support act to one of the most true and old school bands in the history of gruesome and twisted death metal," according to a posting on the band's web site. The tour will take place in September/October.

NOMINON recently signed a one-album deal with Singapore's Konqueror Records and will enter Necromorbus studio in the fall to begin recording their new CD for an early 2005 release. The group's five track mini-CD, "The True Face Of Death", was issued through Nuclear Winter Records. Also planned for release is a collection of NOMINON demos, to be made available via Northern Silence Productions in a package that will also include demo recordings from the once-promising Swedish black metal outfit FAFNER.
