Norway's OBLITERATION Signs North American Deal With RELAPSE RECORDS

July 23, 2013

Relapse Records has announced the signing of Oslo, Norway's death metal warriors OBLITERATION to a North American deal. The band's already completed new album was recorded at OBLITERATION's home studio in Kolbotn, Norway and will be released later this year by Relapse in North America and Indie Recordings in the rest of the world.

Formed in 2001, OBLITERATION has released one EP (2005's "Total Fucking Obliteration") and two full-length albums (2007's "Perpetual Decay" and 2009's "Nekropsalms") to much critical acclaim in the metal underground. Combining a cosmic blend of old-school death metal mixed with the best elements of doom, punk, thrash and primitive black metal, the bandmembers have quickly built a name for themselves with their unique, repulsive style.

Commented OBLITERATION vocalist/guitarist Sindre Solem: "We in OBLITERATION are extremly psyched that Relapse Records are going to handle the American release of our upcoming LP. Relapse have a long stream of quality metal releases, and their reach is vast, so we are honored, and confident that Relapse Records will do a stellar job in spreading the word of OBLITERATION. Onward hail! "

OBLITERATION has made several festival appearances in the U.S. and Europe, including Maryland Deathfest, Hole In The Sky, Øya Festivalen, Live Evil, Beyond The Gates, and Killtown. The band plans to return to North America in early 2014 in support of the new record.
