OBITUARY Added To 'Curtis Beeson: Kill The Cancer Benefit' Concert

February 4, 2011

Florida death metal veterans OBITUARY have been added to the list of artists who will perform at the benefit concert for Curtis Beeson, former drummer of the '80s/'90s metal bands NASTY SAVAGE, MASSACRE, FESTER and DENIAL FIEND, on February 11 at the Crowbar in Ybor City/Tampa, Florida. Meanwhile, SIX FEET UNDER has canceled its appearance at the event, which will also feature a reunion of NASTY SAVAGE.

Commented OBITUARY frontman John Tardy: "Next Friday night, the 11th, we planned on being at the Curtis Beeson benefit. As a good friend of ours we want to do what we can to help! What we didn't plan on doing was actually playing.

"SIX FEET UNDER was supposed to play, but [SIX FEET UNDER vocalist] Chris Barnes decided to cancel the show and that set off a chain of events that left Greg Gall [drums] and Terry Butler [bass] leaving the band. It also left the benefit needing another band!

"Easy decision! We will play!

"You should already now that Terry Butler has been playing with us, so he will be there and we will get Greg Gall to play with us, too!!!

"It is always fun to play, but I am looking forward to seeing NASTY SAVAGE! All original members will be there and it will be awesome to see them back on stage together!"
