OBITUARY Frontman Checks In From The Road

June 24, 2008

Vocalist John Tardy of the Florida death metal legends OBITUARY has issued the following update:

"Our last show at Hellfest in France was really unbelievable! What a great response from all our fans! It is that kind of crowd reaction that gets us invited back to Hellfest again and again! Thanks to all of you for the support and thanks to the organizers for putting on a great festival.

"We had a few really busy days and it is going to be nice to have a couple of days off and rest up for the next show. At one point in time we actually were in four cities, three countries, two flights and two shows in 24 hours! Ouch! We are headed to Holland to spend our time off and then we won't have far to travel to make it to the next show... Graspop [Metal Meeting] in Belgium! Graspop is another huge festival and it should be another awesome show. We look forward to seeing you all there!"

OBITUARY has just completed work on a new EP entitled "Left to Die". The EP will contain four songs: two new originals, a new 2008 studio recording of "Slowly We Rot", and a cover of "Dethroned Emperior" by CELTIC FROST.

OBITUARY's latest album, "Xecutioner's Return", was released last summer via Candlelight Records. The CD was mixed at RedRoom Recorders and was mastered in June at Morrisound Studios in Tampa. The band once again worked with artist Andreas Marschall, who has previously created the art for "The End Complete" and the group's last record, "Frozen in Time".

Fan-filmed video footage of OBITUARY performing the song "Slowly We Rot" at the Kobetasonik Festival on June 21, 2008 in Bilbao, Spain can be viewed below (clip uploaded by YouTube user "BIDEOALDAKARIAK").
