OBSCURA To Be Joined By Bassist STEVE DIGIORGIO For Japanese Dates

May 18, 2010

German technical death metallers OBSCURA will be joined by legendary bassist Steve DiGiorgio (SADUS, DEATH, CONTROL DENIED, TESTAMENT) for their upcoming Japanese tour as regular bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling fulfills touring commitments with PESTILENCE. OBSCURA will be touring Japan as part of Extreme The Dojo with NILE and Tom G. Warrior's TRIPTYKON.

Commented OBSCURA's Steffen Kummerer: "Due to scheduling conflicts with PESTILENCE, Jeroen Paul Thesseling is not able to join us on the trip through the land of the rising sun. Fortunately our friend Steve DiGiorgio will help us out and plays these special shows with OBSCURA. With that said, I will clear that Jeroen is not leaving our band nor is he a session player. We will record the third album with the same lineup as 'Cosmogenesis' and start a huge worldwide touring schedule with Jeroen at our side for all shows when the yet untitled third album will be released."

OBSCURA will round out the "Cosmogenesis" touring cycle with a performance as part of the Mezcal Metal Festival in Mexico City, Mexico in September. The band will begin recording the follow-up to "Cosmogenesis" in the late summer months for an early 2011 release.

During its recently completed U.S. tour alongside THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, OBSCURA visited the Relapse offices for a quick interview session. The first part of the chat can be viewed below, with additional segments to be posted soon.
