ODUM Drummer Performs With RIHANNA At AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS

November 23, 2010

Gus Conde, Brazilian drummer for the metal band ODUM, joined "Soul/Rhythm & Blues Music Favorite Female Artist" winner Rihanna this past Sunday night (November 21) during the opening act for American Music Awards at Nokia Theatre, in Los Angeles, California. Gus was invited to create and play a Brazilian percussion pattern (axé) for Rihanna's new single, "Only Girl (In The World)", during her live performance. Gus plus three other percussionists were blasting four djembes with the singer on stage (see video below around the four-minute, 28-second mark).

ODUM is getting ready for shows, TV interviews and performances in Brazil in the first semester of 2011, while Gus Conde also will be performing clinics to promote his H.I.T. (Highly Intensive Training) drumming program — developed by Gus himself, about speed, endurance and dexterity and the use of muscle memory applied to drumming – and directing a documentary about Brazilian drumming.

A new web site is under construction where the band will be posting video blogs on this Brazil and South America events as well as new killer songs on the way.
