OFFICIUM TRISTE Parts Ways With Guitarist, Announces Replacement
May 30, 2007Guitarist Johan Kwakernaak has left Dutch "atmospheric doomsters" OFFICIUM TRISTE after 13 years of dedication. Johan played his last show with the band on May 26 during a CD-release party for OFFICIUM TRISTE's new album. "Johan came to this decision as he found it had become harder to combine work, personal life and the band," the group writes on its web site. "We wish him all the best in the future and Johan will always be part of OFFICIUM TRISTE, no matter what."
The band adds, "Of course we started the search for a replacement once Johan told us he wanted to quit. Fortunately we found a replacement pretty soon in Bram Bijlhout, who has been active in the band IMBOLC, amongst others, where he played guitar and shared the vocal duties. This summer we’ll make sure Bram is ready to hit the stages again as a tight unit."
OFFICIUM TRISTE's fourth full-length album, "Giving Yourself Away", was released on May 28 via Displeased Records. The CD was recorded at Excess studio in Rotterdam, Holland.
OFFICIUM TRISTE's third full-length album, "Reason", was released in 2004 via Displeased Records. The CD was recorded at the band's own El Pato studio.
