Ohio's NewsChannel 4: OZZFEST Not So Festive For Some Residents

August 3, 2003

Columbus, Ohio's NBC4Columbus.com is reporting that everyone was happy about OZZY OSBOURNE's Ozzfest concert arriving at the Germain Amphitheater Sunday (Aug. 3)

Soundchecks for the bands started early Sunday morning, becoming more of a nuisance than a pleasure for some Delaware County residents who live near the venue.

"At 7:30 (a.m.) on Sunday is not a time we expect them to have an act," resident Robert Skeens told NewsChannel 4. "They've never done that in the past."

Skeens said he was aware of the amphitheater when he moved in five years ago. He said he knew the concerts would get loud.

But he thought the shows would take place at reasonable times of day, he said.

"I just don't think Sunday morning is the time to have this noise level," Skeens said.

NewsChannel 4 contacted the Germain Amphitheater, but a spokesperson said officials were not available for comment.

Skeens said he hoped to find some peace and quiet by taking his family on a day trip out of town Sunday.
