OLD FASHIONED BEATDOWN Among Scheduled Performers At California Fundraiser

September 5, 2007

J. Harry Jones of the San Diego Union-Tribute reports: Officials are concerned about plans for a three-day concert in Ranchita [California] to raise money to fight SDG&E's proposed Sunrise Powerlink. They are worried that not only will too many people try to traverse the narrow dirt road to get there, but that they might be the type of people more intent on partying than expressing environmental views.

"This is the kind of music that gives law enforcement cause for concern," sheriff's Sgt. Tom Evans said recently.

Downloading a song on his desktop computer at the Ranchita/Warner Springs sheriff's substation, Evans played a tune by the Los Angeles heavy metal band OLD FASHIONED BEATDOWN, the logo for which is a circle containing a middle finger.

The band plays "angry music for angry people," according to its web site.

OLD FASHIONED BEATDOWN is one of about three dozen bands, from heavy metal to blues to rock, scheduled to perform at the outdoor concert fundraiser on Morrow's farm. Concertgoers are welcome to camp at the farm for the three-day concert.
