OPERATIKA's Cover Of DIO's 'We Rock' Released

October 6, 2010

New Jersey-based symphonic/power metallers OPERATIKA have released their cover version of the DIO classic "We Rock" via MySpace page. According to the band, the cover was originally planned as a bonus track for their upcoming album, but due to the untimely passing of the great Ronnie James Dio, the cover is being released as a single and all proceeds will go to the Ronnie James Dio "Stand Up And Shout" Cancer Fund.

Created by Ronnie James Dio's wife/manager Wendy, the Ronnie James Dio "Stand Up And Shout" Cancer Fund is committed to the early detection and prevention of cancer through facilitating access to medical screening and medical educational programs. The fund supports programs designed to integrate medical knowledge into local communities such as cancer screening programs, education on nutrition in cancer prevention, exercise and overall wellness. The goal of the fund is to reduce the risk of developing life-threatening cancers by offering access to preventative medical services. Furthering the commitment for patients to access to quality medical care related to cancer, the fund seeks to assist families burdened by the cost of caring for loved ones with cancer.

At the moment, OPERATIKA is in full pre-production mode for its next album. According to the band, "Our new songs are heavier and more technical while incorporating our unique OPERATIKA elements."

OPERATIKA's debut album, "The Calling", was released in Europe in October 2008 through Scarlet Records. According to a press release, the album has been described as "the perfect combination of singer Slava Popova's harmonious operatic vocals, powerful guitar riffs and solos, melodic keyboard harmonies, intense bass (handled by Michael LePond of SYMPHONY X) and fierce drumming" — a "must-have for every fan of NIGHTWISH, STRATOVARIUS, HELLOWEEN, CHILDREN OF BODOM and PRIMAL FEAR."

OPERATIKA has previously shared the stage with such internationally renowned artists as NIGHTWISH, HELLOWEEN, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TWISTED SISTER, STRATOVARIUS, SONATA ARCTICA, SEBASTIAN BACH and KAMELOT.

OPERATIKA's "Dreamworld" four-song EP came out in 2005.
