ORCRIST Signs With PAINKILLER RECORDS

June 9, 2009

Black metallers ORCRIST have inked a deal with the Netherlands-based label Painkiller Records (a sub-label of Apollon Entertainment UN Limited) for the release of the band's third full-length album, "We Come In War".

The CD marks a change in direction for ORCRIST, with their traditional old-school black metal approach being expanded to include slower, more atmospheric tracks.

Commenting on the new sound, founder and drummer Grav says, "Personally, I am a huge fan of the early black metal sound, but a band can't sit still, or you just end up releasing album after album that all sound the same. The addition of Mane from DEFIXIO on guitars and bass, who does all the writing, and Goblin from the Norwegian band ISVIND on vocals, meant that we were able to approach the music from an entirely different angle, whilst still keeping to the underground roots and ethos that we all share."

Due to unexpected personal commitments, Goblin was unable to lay down the vocals for "We Come In War", and his place on the album has been taken by Sacrifice from MOURNING SOUL. Grav explains, "Both the band and Goblin are very disappointed that his vocals will not be part of the album, as everyone concerned worked very hard on the preparation. Unfortunately, these things happen, and, at the end of the day, despite everyone's best efforts to accommodate the circumstances, we all agreed that we couldn't delay the album any longer, and we were very lucky to get Sacrifice to fill in at the last moment. Goblin is still very much part of the band though, and plays a very active part, and the lyrics he wrote are an integral part of the album."

Aside from the two previous albums, the Italian band has a history of working with Norwegian bands, having previously released a split 7" with ISVIND, and recently released "Black Destroyer", a split 7" on Temple of Darkness Records with BEASTCRAFT. The band has also contributed not only the intro on the ILDJARN tribute album "Gathered Under The Banner Of Strength and Honour", but also wrote the lyrics, with Ildjarn's blessing, for "Unknown Harmony", a previously unnamed track on the same album.

Due for worldwide release in the summer, "We Come In War" will feature the following track listing:

01. We Come In War
02. From The Fog - Enshrouded Desolate Lands
03. Winter Might
04. Mother Of Infernal Night
05. Ode To The Wolf’s Torment
06. Breathless
07. The Silence

Two unmastered tracks from the album are currently being streamed on ORCRIST's MySpace page.
