Original AC/DC Frontman To Perform At BON SCOTT Tribute Gig

January 5, 2007

According to NEWS.com.au, Dave Evans, the original and sacked lead singer of Australian rock outfit AC/DC, will perform at a tribute concert for the late Bon Scott in Perth next month.

Scott, who died in February 1980, became frontman following the departure of Evans in 1974.

Evans recorded the band's first two singles, "Can I Sit Next To You Girl" and "Baby Please Don't Go", before leaving to join Newcastle glam rockers RABBIT.

Evans, who lives in the U.S., will join some of the country's well-known rock bands including ROSE TATTOO, THE ANGELS and the SCREAMING JETS for the concert at Claremont Showgrounds on February 25.

Scottish-born Scott and his family moved from Melbourne to Fremantle, Western Australia, in 1956.

"I haven't performed in Perth ... since 1974," Evans said.

"That's when AC/DC had the hit 'Can I Sit Next To You Girl', which was also voted the Australian single of the year."

The Bon Scott Celebration Concert hopes to raise money to build a statue in honor of Scott in Fremantle.
