'Original' CRUEFEST Organizers Want Recognition For Their Time And Effort

April 18, 2008

The organizers of the "original" Cruefest the association that organizes concerts at various locations around the world throughout the year to raise money for the various MTLEY CRE-affiliated charities (including Skylar Neil Memorial Fund, Nikki Sixx's Running Wild in the Night foundation, Tommy Lee's charity of choice St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Mick Mars' charity Spondylitis Association of America) have released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"We would like to set the record straight regarding the just-announced 'first-ever Cruefest'... as it is being touted as the 'first-ever'... [referring to this summer's 40-plus-city Cre Fest '08 North American amphitheater tour featuring headliners MTLEY CRE alongside rock acts BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH, TRAPT and CRE bassist Nikki Sixx's side band SIXX: A.M.]

"Cruefest was founded by a group of MTLEY CRE fans from all over North America. The ORIGINAL Cruefest took place in 2001 in Ohio. Two weeks later, Cruefest was held at the Whisky A-Go Go in Hollywood, California, and it expanded throughout North America to cities such as Orlando, New England, New York, Texas, Chicago, San Francisco, Nova Scotia, and even Vancouver in 2006 at The Roxy. The Vancouver show at the Roxy was sponsored by 99.3 The Fox in Vancouver. There is also a Cruefest held in Australia.

"Cruefest is an established charity event from the very beginning (August of 2001) ...involving the Skylar Neil Foundation. Members of MTLEY CRE have participated in Cruefest, as they have signed prizes that were given away at the events. In addition, Neil Wharton (Vince Neil's son) has headlined a number of events with his band ROCK N ROLL JUNKIES. As a result of our hard work, several thousand dollars has been donated to the Skylar Neil Foundation over the past seven years.

"The event is an all-day-long festival, for which bands from all over the world apply to perform. Approximately 10 bands are chosen by the Cruefest team, and proceeds from tickets sold go toward the Skylar Neil Foundation. Many bands and Cruefest team members have put in a lot of time and effort to make this festival a success every year, and deserve some recognition."
