OZZY OSBOURNE Says It's A 'Good Experience' To Collaborate With Other Artists

April 4, 2005

Launch Radio Networks is reporting that OZZY OSBOURNE's been getting a lot of good reviews for his hit cover of MOUNTAIN's "Mississippi Queen", which features MOUNTAIN leader Leslie West on guitar. However, not everyone has appreciated the cover songs that are on the new "Prince of Darkness" box set. Osbourne included songs he did with members of rap act the WU-TANG CLAN, MISS PIGGY, and PRIMUS, among others. He told Launch that some people want to keep him in the heavy metal category, but he needs to stretch out sometimes: "Being Ozzy has its restrictions, because I try and veer to the left or to the right musically, and I, I'd like to do...I mean, people say, 'How, why did you do WU-TANG WANG records, and why did you do all of these?' Because it's not my song, I'm a professional singer, and it's so interesting to go in someone else's vibe, you know? And it's a good experience for me."

BLACK SABBATH will once again headline Ozzfest this year, starting July 15 in Mansfield, Massachusetts. This year marks the festival's 10th anniversary, and the bill also includes IRON MAIDEN, MUDVAYNE, SHADOWS FALL, ROB ZOMBIE, and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, among others.
