P.O.D. Signs With RAZOR & TIE

October 6, 2011

Razor & Tie has announced the signing of the Christian hard rockers P.O.D. (PAYABLE ON DEATH) to an exclusive, multi-album, worldwide deal. The band's as-yet-untitled new album will see the band reunited with longtime producer Howard Benson who also helmed the group's massive "Satellite" CD and has worked on major hit releases for such artists as 3 DOORS DOWN, KELLY CLARKSON, THEORY OF A DEADMAN, DAUGHTRY, ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS, and MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE. A spring 2012 release is expected.

"We are really excited to be starting a new chapter of our career with Razor & Tie," says P.O.D. vocalist Sonny Sandoval. "We just can't wait to put out the new album and show everyone what weve worked so hard on."

Add Razor & Tie co-owners Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam in a statement: "P.O.D. is a relevant, legendary, iconic band and we are very excited that they have decided to work with us. We have made a real commitment to releasing quality music from the best rock bands and signing P.O.D. is a serious statement about how serious and passionate we are."

A new P.O.D. song, "On Fire", was made available for free download in July and can be streamed in the YouTube clip below.

P.O.D. earlier in the year filed a lawsuit against the band's former record label, Tennessee-based INO Records, claiming that the company breached its contract by refusing to pay the group a $400,000 advance for its next album.

According to the lawsuit, which was filed in Nashville, the group informed the label in November that it was ready to start recording the follow-up to 2008's "When Angels & Serpents Dance". The band claims INO refused to pay the option, explaining that P.O.D. had " 'abandoned' its obligations (to INO) under the agreement."

"When Angels & Serpents Dance" sold 34,000 in the United States in its first week of release in April 2008 to debut at position No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The band's previous CD, "Testify", registered a first-week tally of just over 54,000 back in February 2006 to land at No. 9.

"When Angels & Serpents Dance" featured guest appearances from the MARLEY SISTERS, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES singer Mike Muir and HELMET guitarist Page Hamilton.
