
PAPA ROACH Cancels LOUDER THAN LIFE Appearance Due To Bassist TOBIN ESPERANCE's 'Unexpected' Health 'Emergency'
September 19, 2026PAPA ROACH canceled its appearance at this weekend's Louder Than Life festival after "an unexpected emergency" involving the band's bassist Tobin Esperance.
PAPA ROACH was scheduled to perform at the annual Louisville, Kentucky event on Saturday (September 19) on the Life Stage, starting at 8:25 p.m.
On Friday (September 18),PAPA ROACH released the following statement via social media: "After careful consideration and advice from medical professionals, PAPA ROACH bassist Tobin Esperance will be unable to perform this weekend due to an unexpected emergency. Therefore, we will not be able to perform at this year's Louder Than Life festival, and wish everyone the best.
"Right now, Tobin's health is our immediate concern. We look forward to welcoming him back on stage in November and appreciate the continued support and respect for his privacy during this time."
Louder Than Life 2026 runs through September 20 at the Kentucky Exposition Center grounds. Headliners this year include IRON MAIDEN, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, LIMP BIZKIT, TOOL, PANTERA, MEGADETH, PIERCE THE VEIL, A DAY TO REMEMBER, SUBLIME, GOJIRA and Danny Elfman.
More than 200 bands are scheduled to perform on seven stages at this year's event. In addition to the music, visitors can enjoy access to the adjoining Kentucky Kingdom amusement park, fine bourbon and an assortment of local and regional food.
On Friday, Louder Than Life was evacuated for a couple of hours because of the threat of severe weather. Just after 5 p.m., Louder Than Life announced gates would be reopening and asked fans to safely make their way to the festival entrances.
