PAPA ROACH Releases Two New Songs, 'Renegade Music' And 'Who Do You Trust?'

October 5, 2018

PAPA ROACH has released two songs from its forthcoming, as-yet-untitled 10th studio album, "Renegade Music" and "Who Do You Trust?", plus the official music video for the first single, "Who Do You Trust?" The tracks see PAPA ROACH continuing to push its momentum with bonafide rock anthems and fearsome hooks.

Frontman Jacoby Shaddix explains: "This song is a statement of engagement — in this day and age, who do you trust? The message of the song is to think for yourself and to trust in yourself, and the imagery of the song matches that. It's the sea of information, all of if slightly out of focus — and you're left floating in trying to decide for yourself. Who do you trust?"

Shaddix told Rock Sound about PAPA ROACH's decision to re-team with producers Nicholas "RAS" Furlong and Colin Brittain, who helmed 2017's "Crooked Teeth" album: "We have a rhythm going with these guys. We were supposed to go on tour with OF MICE & MEN at the beginning of the 'Crooked Teeth' record cycle, and Austin [Carlile, then-OF MICE & MEN singer] had gotten really sick. And so the tour was canceled. So we were, like, 'All right. Well, if we're not gonna be out on the road, let's go create.' So we went in and we created five or six songs then. And then we went back in June and July and took another stab at it, and we have 12 songs that are… There's bangers in there. We're gonna go back and do one more track and see if we can beat one of the songs. And we'll have a full-length record ready to go."

Guitarist Jerry Horton told Morgan Richards Interviews that PAPA ROACH's new material sees him and his bandmates "really trying to explore more dynamics and not just be a wall of guitars all the time."

Shaddix described the musical direction of the new PAPA ROACH songs to the Lazer 103.3 radio station as "a pretty bold evolution," saying that the tracks that have been laid down so far are "so inspiring and just unique and different and rocking and anthemic and passionate."

PAPA ROACH set out on a mini tour starting today in Richmond, Virginia, hitting ten cities across North and Latin America, before setting out on a December tour to various military bases in Asia. The band will also join SHINEDOWN and ASKING ALEXANDRIA on the 2019 North American leg of the "Attention! Attention!" world tour. Additional international tour dates will be announced soon.
