PAUL STANLEY Unveils New Paintings
June 26, 2007KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley has unveiled three new original paintings via his official web site. According to a posting on the site, "Kyoto, Price of the Rising Sun and Exodus see Paul continuing "to explore new styles. . . One can see the influences of Miro and Calder, or the minimalism of Rodko."
Stanley's latest pieces will be available as limited-edition prints in a couple of weeks.
In a recent interview with The Charlotte Observer, Stanley stated about his decision to begin painting, "About six years ago, I was going through a divorce. My best friend said, 'You need to paint.' I had never spent any time painting. I went out and bought canvases and paints, and went to work. It became a really powerful emotional journey. It allowed me to delve into parts of myself that were more easily painted than spoken. I purposely put aside the idea of trying to depict anything in a lifelike way. The idea of making something overly realistic for me takes away the (painting's) emotional power."
