PEARL JAM And ROBERT PLANT JAM At Katrina Benefit: Photos Available
October 7, 2005Launch Radio Networks reports: PEARL JAM and former LED ZEPPELIN singer Robert Plant jammed on both cover tunes and ZEPPELIN material during a benefit for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts on Wednesday night (October 5) at the House of Blues in Chicago. Check out photos from Wire Image. According to Billboard.com, Plant and members of his STRANGE SENSATION band joined PEARL JAM onstage during the latter group's second encore for a version of ZEPPELIN's "Going To California". Plant then stuck around to duet with PEARL JAM vocalist Eddie Vedder on "Thank You" and "Fool In The Rain". Both singers used a lyric sheet for "Fool", which Plant and ZEPPELIN never performed live.
PEARL JAM and Plant also ran through covers of ELVIS PRESLEY's "Little Sister" and "Money (That's What I Want)", the Motown hit later popularized by THE BEATLES.
PEARL JAM closed the show with NEIL YOUNG's "Rockin' In The Free World", which featured Plant playing guitar.
Plant played his own 45-minute opening set before PEARL JAM's two-hour performance. Tickets for the show were a hefty $1,000, with proceeds going to the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and the Jazz Foundation of America.
PEARL JAM's next album is due out in early 2006.
