Pennsylvania's Heavy-Metal Legislative Aide

August 25, 2007

Eric Poole of Pennsylvania's Beaver County Times reports: On Thursday, Kevin Bowser helped shepherd a cooperative agreement between Ellwood City Council and a revitalization group for a development project in the borough.

The next morning, he was at Ozzfest.

Bowser, the apparently strait-laced legislative assistant in the Ellwood City office of state Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-10, Ellwood City, is a closet headbanger who made his 13th trip to Ozzfest on Friday.

"I've only missed it once," he said.

Now 38, Bowser said he attends the event mostly to see Ozzy Osbourne, acknowledging that most of the supporting acts are aimed at an audience who know the headliner more for his television show, "The Osbournes", than for his days with BLACK SABBATH.

Bowser, who graduated from Lincoln High School in 1987 and Penn State University in 1991, worked in the Ellwood City Ledger's mail room until 1993, when he was hired in the office of then-state Rep. Frank LaGrotta.
