Pennsylvanian Hard Rockers CYPHILIS To Open For KISS

July 19, 2004

Pennsylvanian hard rock quartet CYPHILIS will open for KISS and POISON at Montage Mountain in Scranton, PA on Friday, July 23 on a side stage, according to The Citizens' Voice.

"This is the biggest thing to happen to the band," stated vocalist Nick D. "Many bands, including ours, have grown up with KISS and we're excited to be able to play before them."

Although some may find their name a bit blunt, the members wanted something that would stick in people's minds.

"If I named two bands, one of which being ours and then asked you to repeat them, guaranteed you would say 'CYPHILIS' first," Nick said. "We wanted something that would really stay with people."

"We didn't even throw around any other names," guitarist Germ added.

According to drummer Brian Feist, after surfing the Internet, they found an Australian band named "SYPHILIS" and decided to change the spelling.

"We don't go around promoting the disease or anything. But it definitely makes us hard to forget," Feist said. Read more.
