50,000 People Expected At Today's 'Big Four' Concert In California

April 23, 2011

According to Bruce Fessier of The Desert Sun, a sell-out crowd is expected to attend today's (Saturday, April 23) "Big Four" concert at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The show, featuring the biggest names of 1980s thrash metal — METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX — is permitted for up to 55,000 people by the city of Indio, but a sell-out may actually be closer to 50,000.

Jennifer Shevlin, program director of KCLB 93.7 FM, said she thought the "Big Four" would have sold out by now.

"I'm very surprised," she said, "because this concert appeals to such a wide range of people — from construction workers to doctors and lawyers. I think everybody can really relate to METALLICA and have a passion for the band."

"Coachella fest is an event to be seen at," she added. "I think this event is more for music lovers. You hear METALLICA, you hear MEGADETH on the radio a lot more than these people you see at Coachella fest."
