PERRY FARRELL Welcomes New Members To SATELLITE PARTY
July 23, 2007Former JANE'S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell has issued the following update on his SATELLITE PARTY project following the announcement over the weekend that ex-EXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt has left the fold:
"I am in San Clemente today. We are working on our live set mix at Sounden Studios. We are about to go further and deeper.
"I have been greatly inspired in assembling the SATELLITE PARTY's American tour.
"As is the case with all launched projectiles, parts fall off the back as the rocket climbs toward heaven. In stage 2 Nuno and Kevin [Figg, drums] have disengaged.
"Our new members are Nick Perri [guitar] and Jordan Plosky [drums].
"Carl [Restivo; keyboards and bass] had told me about a young guitarist he jammed with at the 'Dimebag' Darrel Abbott benefit [concert]. He was an exceptional young player who was an amazing performer. He came in for his audition, and plugged straight into the amp. The room was struck by a bolt of lightning. He caused a frenzy. Jordan was on drums. Carl on bass, Etty was singing. We held the rehearsal at the Paul Green School of Rock in Hollywood.
"Jordan is a great modern drummer. His style is perfectly suited for what we are up to.
"I went home that night and slept soundly.
"Also joining us on tour is a great young producer Cole Gion. He'll be playing synth and freaking out programs.
"We are going deeper into the back catalogs. We are prepping for SATELLITE PARTY numbers, as well as JANE'S, PORNO [FOR PYROS], and 'Song Yet To Be Sung' tracks. I feel energized by the prospect of our live sets."
Released on May 29, SATELLITE PARTY's debut album, "Ultra Payloaded", is a loose concept record about an organization called "the Solutionists" that wants to use music to change the world for the better. The album contains guest appearances from RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea and guitarist John Frusciante, BLACK EYED PEAS singer Fergie and others, as well as what may be the last known recording made by late DOORS vocalist Jim Morrison.
"Ultra Payloaded" is packaged in "an entirely eco-friendly" digipack made exclusively out of recycled paper, while the disc itself is carbon-neutral. All the estimated carbon dioxide produced by the manufacture and shipping of the record will be offset by the construction of renewable energy projects.
SATELLITE PARTY will embark on a two-month North American tour in August.
