PETER DURST Rejoins DARKSIDE

December 14, 2002

Peter Durst, original singer and guitar player Austrian death metallers DARKSIDE, has rejoined the band. Durst, who spent time in DESPERADO INC. during his hiatus from the group, left DARKSIDE in the fall of 2000.

"Peter's comeback does surely not mean that DARKSIDE [will] return to its previous style, the goals for the band are well set," member Wolfgang Süssenbeck said in an official statement. "Just that we are not by any means having a sort of commercial last minute panic, even if DARKSIDE in ten years didn't have any commercial success. We will deepen the use of new technologies as using technology never means replacing non-existing feeling, that happens only when you don't know how to use it or if you need to hide your inabilities... DARKSIDE always stood for a very personal kind of music, somehow the band created its own style and I was always believing in the fact that everybody in this band was happy with what he was doing and/or contributing to. I strongly believe that with Peter's return ALL the major aspects of DARKSIDE's past have returned, as the voice and his style of guitar playing formed the major body of the band for almost 8 years. Together with the strongest moments of 'Cognitive Dissonance' this will create a great mix of aggression and power."

DARKSIDE's next release will be a 10-year-anniversary collection of re-recorded versions of the band's best numbers, plus a host of covers, including those of MADONNA's "Frozen", QUEENSRŸCHE's "Someone Else", and MANOWAR's "Hail To England". Titled "Decayed 1.0", it is expected to be issued during the summer.
