Petition Launched To Get DIMEBAG Inducted Into ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME
February 7, 2005A petition has been launched to get late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Dimebag was gunned down by a deranged fan on December 8, 2004 while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame "honors the legendary performers, producers, songwriters, disc jockeys and others who have made rock and roll the force in our culture that it is," according to the organization's official description. Dimebag was obviously legendary, and certainly helped shape the culture and the future of music. While the definition of the term "rock & roll" is somewhat ambiguous, the Hall does have a heavy metal category. Inductees are announced annually during a December ceremony.
