PHILIP ANSELMO Performs ALICE IN CHAINS, PANTERA With METAL SKOOL
February 27, 2007Former PANTERA/current DOWN frontman Philip Anselmo joined the '80s metal/hard rock tribute band METAL SKOOL last night (Monday, February 26) at the Key club in Hollywood, California for renditions of ALICE IN CHAINS' "Man in the Box" and PANTERA's "Walk". Other guests at the show included Marq Torien from the BULLETBOYS, David Draiman (DISTURBED) and former NBA star Dennis Rodman. Draiman reportedly performed "Whole Lotta Love" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me" with METAL SKOOL, whose lineup includes guitarist "Satchel" (real name Russ Parrish; ex-FIGHT) and singer "Michael Star" (real name Ralph Saenz; ex-L.A. GUNS).
DOWN entered a Los Angeles studio last week to begin recording its third full-length album, tentatively titled "Down III". Producer Warren Riker (CROWBAR, SUBLIME) is helming the effort, for which the band had reportedly composed more than 18 tracks.
