PITCHSHIFTER Recruit Ex-EARTHTONE 9 Guitarist For London Gig

July 12, 2002

PITCHSHIFTER have recruited former EARTHTONE 9 guitarist Joe Roberts to fill in for Jim Davies at their show with IGGY POP at London's Brixton Academy on Saturday, July 13th. Davies is unable to play due to his live commitments with THE PRODIGY, who are scheduled to headline the Wittness festival in Meath the same night.

"I had been hoping that I could fulfill both duties this year without any gigs clashing and it had been working out fine until this gig came up," said Davies. "It's a real shame and it's done my head in trying to work out how to get around it, (short of getting a helicopter to pick me up outside Brixton Academy the moment we finish!). Basically, PITCHSHIFTER's touring schedule has and will continue to be hectic while THE PRODIGY are doing only a handful of gigs this year which I felt I should do."

"I respect the 'SHIFTER fans enough to not just turn up and leave them wondering what's going on and spark rumors of me leaving, which isn't the case I assure you."

"I'm really pleased it's Joe doing it [the PITCHSHIFTER show]," added Davies. "I was a fan of EARTHTONE 9. I hope the fans understand the situation and have a great gig, which I'm sure it will be."

Jim will resume his guitarist duties in PITCHSHIFTER when the band play the Bath Extreme Sports Festival on July 19th.
