PLACE OF SKULLS: 'The Black Is Never Far' U.S. Release Date Pushed Back
March 27, 2006The U.S. release date of the third full-length CD from PLACE OF SKULLS, entitled "The Black Is Never Far", has been pushed back to May 1 from the previously announced April 17. "Our U.S. distributor, Southern Records Chicago, has just inked a deal with a new major distribution company who are able to make our releases available everywhere in the new world," a representative for the band's label, Exile On Mainstream, writes on the group's web site. "As this new relationship starts May 1st, we decided to postpone the release to give this album maximum availability and thus maximum success. We apologize but the decision was failed mainly in your, the fan's, interest."
PLACE OF SKULLS is the Knoxville, Tennessee-based band featuring former PENTAGRAM guitarist Victor Griffin.
"The Black Is Never Far" was recorded at Lakeside Studios with producers Travis Wyrick and Mike Dearing, and features Griffin alongside Dennis Cornelius of REVELATION and OVERSOUL fame and drummer extraordinaire Tim Tomaselli. Longtime friend and original PLACE OF SKULLS/DEATH ROW bassist Lee Abney also makes a guest appearance. Touring plans include a possible European trek in the fall.
