POISONBLACK To Release New Album In The Fall
March 28, 2006The current lineup of POISONBLACK — Ville Laihiala (vocals, guitar, formerly of SENTENCED),Janne Markus (guitar),Marco Sneck (keyboards),Antti Remes (bass) and Tarmo Kanerva (drums) — are continuing to write material for their sophomore album, which they hope to begin recording this spring for a tentative late summer/early fall release via Century Media Records.
Commented Kanerva: "We haven't entered the studio yet 'cos we've been working on some killer songs that we definitely want to be included on the album. We'll start the recordings in April and right after we're done, the album will be mixed at the Antfarm studios in Denmark. The release date is still not confirmed, but most likely the album will be out in August/September (and this time we're talkin' about THIS year!)."
As previously reported, POISONBLACK are scheduled to perform at Club Teatria in Oulu, Finland on April 1. Also appearing on the bill will be REFLEXION.
Laihiala had previously stated about the new album's musical direction: "The new one has the same spirit and theme that was on [the debut album, 'Escapextacy'], but presented with a lot more dirtier and rougher sounds without forgetting the melodies," he said. "But if you are waiting for a soft goth-rock album you'll be surprised."
POISONBLACK released their debut album, "Escapextacy", in 2003 via Century Media. CHARON frontman Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto sang on the CD, but his touring and recording commitments with his main band eventually forced him to quit POISONBLACK.
