POWERMAN 5000 Frontman Directing Horror Movie; Photos Available
February 26, 2007Fangoria.com paid a visit to the set of POWERMAN 5000 frontman-turned-director Spider's untitled horror production last week, and brought back juicy info and pics from the downtown Los Angeles shoot. On the abandoned second story of a particularly decrepit building just off 3rd and Main, Fangoria.com writer Sean Decker dodged rats and the grim detritus of squatters (including used hypodermic needles, giving the set an all-too-realistic flair) while speaking with the director. "We're shooting it like 'Cops' with a darker tone," the spiky-haired Spider — brother of another frontman-turned-director, Rob Zombie — told Fangoria.com. Having recently pitched the idea (which he developed with "30 Days of Night"'s Steve Niles) around town and received an enthusiastic response, Spider was encouraged to go one step further in order to secure a deal. "The best thing to do was to shoot a short scene on my own to prove that the concept can work, so here we are," he said.
