PRIMAL FEAR Cancels WACKEN OPEN AIR Appearance

March 23, 2010

German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR have been forced to cancel their appearance at the Wacken Open Air festival "due to an important private appointment." Organizers say that the band will "try to make up for Wacken Open Air 2011."

This year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival is scheduled to take place August 5-7 in Wacken, Germany.

As previously reported, singer Pamela Moore — who is best known for her performance as Sister Mary on QUEENSRŸCHE's 1988 epic release "Operation: Mindcrime" and 2006's sequel "Operation: Mindcrime II" — will perform with PRIMAL FEAR as a special guest at all shows on their "The Fear Is Here" North American tour. Pamela will also host special meet-and-greet/soundcheck parties at select venues.

PRIMAL FEAR is currently putting together a new DVD, "16.6 – All Over The World", to be released in June via Frontiers Records. The bulk of the set will be composed of footage from the 2009 concerts in Switzerland and Atlanta, Georgia, with additional material from Japan, Colombia, Brazil, Germany and Sweden. The band says, "[We] still [have] a long way to go [before completing the DVD], but it will be a killer package, including the first official live CD of PRIMAL FEAR, 'Live In The USA', recorded in Los Angeles, Atlanta and New York." The group adds, "Achim Köhler is already working on the mix of the audio stuff." A European tour in support of the new DVD and live DVD will take place in the fall.

"16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead)", the new album from PRIMAL FEAR, was released in Europe on May 22, 2009 and was made available in the U.S. in early June 2009 via Frontiers Records.

"16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead)" was recorded at House Of Music studios in Winterbach, Germany with Dennis Ward and Achim Köhler. The CD marks the group's first release with Magnus Karlsson (ALLEN/LANDE, STARBREAKER),who replaced Stefan Leibing last year. Returning guitarist Henny Wolter and Karlsson participated in the songwriting and pre-production, which took place at Karlsson's Stuntguitar Studio in Sweden. The band spent four weeks at House Of Music recording the effort, which was mastered by Ted Jensen at the Sterling Sound in New York City.
