Producer: New DEEP PURPLE Material Has 'Classic' Sound
May 24, 2005According to a post at Deep-Purple.net, DEEP PURPLE's new studio album is coming along well, with 12 basic tracks now recorded by mid-May. Ian Gillan is taking a break and will complete the vocals by mid-June, before producer Mike Bradord gets down to the mix.
With regards to the musical direction of the new material, Bradford recently said, "To my ears, this album has a great classic DEEP PURPLE sound, without trying to rewrite a classic song. Steve Morse [guitar] and Don Airey [keyboards] have really worked together to make that great guitar-organ combination sound that drove the early records."
As previously announced, DEEP PURPLE recently formally announced their split with EMI Records, who released "Abandon", "Live At Olympia" and "Bananas". Apart from back catalogue, this marks the end of EMI's current links with the DEEP PURPLE family after more than forty years.
