PROFUGUS MORTIS Explains Violinist's Departure

January 28, 2008

Montreal-based sympho/black/folk/power metal band PROFUGUS MORTIS has issued the following update:

"As some of you may know, Émilie Livernois [violinist] no longer plays in PROFUGUS MORTIS.

"This decision was mutual and not an easy one to make considering everything we've done together over the years. Unfortunately, it was becoming more and more clear to us that she was losing her motivation to be in this band, and for all those who play in a band you know that there's nothing more infuriating than having someone around who isn't giving their 100%. This past Friday we went to practice with every intention of asking her to leave but in the end she had decided that this was also the best course of action.

"We are all disappointed that it had to come to this but at the same time we are all more motivated than ever to play the music that we love with people who want to play it for the people who want to hear it.

"There is no question that violin with continue to be a part of our sound. However, whether or not we will have a violin player in the band remains to be seen. That's why we will be auditioning violin players as well as guitarists to fill in the sixth spot in the band.

"If you are interested, please contact us through our MySpace with 'audition' in the subject.

"As of right now, PROFUGUS MORTIS is a five-piece and will be for our show February 2 in Ottawa. We have a few shows being worked out for April. For those we will be joined on stage by a second guitarist who will be announced later.

"Note: On February 2 we will be unveiling a brand new song from our upcoming album, and if we don't screw it up we'll put a clip of it online.

"New Album: We are still hard at work on the new record which is coming along very very well. I can tell you with all confidence that this will slay our first record in every way. Contrary to what some have thought, the new material will not be affected by Émilie's departure seeing as she did not contribute to the songwriting process."

PROFUGUS MORTIS' debut album, "…So It Begins", was released in March 2007 through Prodisk Records.

A new demo song, entitled "In Time", can be streamed on the group's MySpace page.
