PROGPOWER USA IV Officially Sold Out

May 24, 2003

ProgPower USA IV, North America's premiere festival for progressive and power metal music, has officially sold out more than three months in advance.

The festival will return to Atlanta's Earthlink Live, the venue that housed last fall's sold-out event, on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6.

"I don't think anyone can doubt that ProgPower USA has taken the step to the next level with another sell-out this year," said promoter Glenn Harveston. "The fans have shown what kind of product they want, and I'm more than willing to deliver it to them each and every year."

Finland's NIGHTWISH and Germany's RAGE will headline ProgPower IV with exclusive appearances. The festival will feature several first-time appearances from overseas artists such as Germany's VANDEN PLAS, Italy's SECRET SPHERE, Denmark's MERCENARY, and Norway's PAGAN'S MIND, as well as hosting a return appearance by Sweden's EVERGREY and American acts SYMPHONY X, CIRCLE II CIRCLE, and REDEMPTION. FATES WARNING and ENGINE vocalist Ray Alder will make a special guest appearance, performing with REDEMPTION.

ProgPower USA is sponsored by Pacific Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Evans Drumheads, Shure Microphones, Ultimate Support Systems, Sensory Records, and Metal Ages Media.

ProgPower USA, an international affiliate of the Netherlands' ProgPower Europe, was created to attract the top names in both the progressive and power metal genres. The first event was held at a small bar in Lansing, Ill., in February 2001 and featured the first U.S. appearance of PAIN OF SALVATION. The 350-capacity show sold out three months in advance. Due to popular demand, a second event was held in November 2001 and featured the most unique progressive and power metal roster in the States to date (SYMPHONY X, KAMELOT, ARK, EVERGREY, ANGEL DUST, SPIRAL ARCHITECT, plus others). The attendance increased in size to 750 with a crowd coming from 38 states and 15 countries. Last year's ProgPower III featured the first American performances by BLIND GUARDIAN, GAMMA RAY, ANGRA, THRESHOLD, as well as EDGUY, PAIN OF SALVATION, DEVIN TOWNSEND, SILENT FORCE, ZERO HOUR, and READING ZERO. Tickets were sold to 1,300 fans worldwide.
