PSYOPUS Pulls Out Of Canadian Dates With TODAY IS THE DAY

March 22, 2008

Rochester, NY-based tech grindcore/hardcore outfit PSYOPUS has issued the following update:

"We at the PSYOPUS camp feel like real dousche bags but, we are sorry to explain to you that we are going to have to drop off of our Canadian dates with TODAY IS THE DAY, FUCK THE FACTS and COMPLETE FAILURE. Here's the story:

"Back in January, PSYOPUS was kept from crossing the border for our small January tour. The reason started with the fact Arpmandude (Christopher Arp, guitar) has an attempted criminal mischief in the fourh conviction from 2001, and a violation of probation in 2002 where he served a month in jail. This was a flag warning for a bitch of a bitch of a bitch immigration woman who decided that Arpmandude was a 'risk to Canada.'

"Since then, Arpmandude has gone through all channels to acquire all of the paper work to clear his record, a certificate called a Certificate of Rehabilitation. The last certificate he needs to show the Canadian consulate to receive this is a certificate from the FBI called a Criminal Clearance Certificate. Arpmandude sent in the proper paperwork for that, but, unfortunately, it is has a very long processing time an amount of time that will be beyond the first Canadian date of March 23rd.

"Now, back to the January immigration lady. Through channels, PSYOPUS had available to us we had someone at Canadian immigration check out Arpmandude's file. First off, the immigration lady did have options that could have allowed Arpmandude through the border to complete their January tour correctly. At her discretion she chose not to let them be available. Secondly, not only did she not give us these options, but she went above and behind to file Arpmandude's case in such a way that no other immigration staff could give Arpmandude any other options through the border without this required clearance. So, fuck her!

"Sorry again, Canada. We have let you down twice, and we apologize greatly. The good news is that once Arpmandude receives his FBI Certificate of Clearance, his Certificate of Rehabilitation is basically guaranteed and he will be able to come and go to Canada as he pleases. We will make it up to Canada as best we can."

PSYOPUS's latest album, "Our Puzzling Encounters Considered", was released in February 2007 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded at Watchmen Studios in Lockport, NY with producer Doug White.
