PUNISH YOURSELF: New Song Available For Free Download

September 19, 2009

A new PUNISH YOURSELF track, entitled "Zmeya", is available for free download at this location. It can also be streamed using the audio player below. The song comes off the French industrial band's sixth album, "Pink Panther Party", which is scheduled for release on October 19 via Season Of Mist.

Commented vocalist Vx: "'Zmeya' means 'snake' in Russian. It's a quite obvious reference to Russian politics, treated in a humorous and apocalyptic way, with lyrics such as 'I'm the son of the red star I'm a supertzar' or 'you can't get out — join my federation now.' With this song, PUNISH YOURSELF tries to go against the bad habit most 'industrial' bands seem to have developed since the '90s — mindless, continuous U.S. bashing. Musically, the song is fast yet very bouncy, celebrating the collision of mutated cyber-blues, epic choral samples and slavonic electric violin (played by Ninon 'Ecstatickillher', who is also a member of my side-project CHEERLEADER 69),a mix you sure weren't prepared for."
