RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Guitarist Calls Rally Performance 'Very Exciting'
April 20, 2007Launch Radio Networks reports: RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello and singer Zack De La Rocha performed in public together for the first time in nearly seven years in Chicago last Saturday (April 14) as part of a rally-turned-celebration for the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. Their performance offered a preview of the full band's upcoming Coachella Festival appearance on April 29. Morello told Launch that the experience was a memorable one: "We worked the entire set up 20 minutes before we went onstage, but it went pretty well. It was very exciting for everybody in the room, myself included. I mean, the place was just packed to the rafters and even the stage was packed with this ring of 25 photographers two feet away from us while we were playing, so it was kind of a trippy, you know, way to do our first show. But it was a great cause and we were happy to be a part of the Immokalee farmworkers victory."
Morello and de la Rocha played "People Of The Sun", "Bulls On Parade" and "Down Rodeo". Morello also performed several tunes as THE NIGHTWATCHMAN, while de la Rocha sang a song he wrote for the event.
The Coalition of Immokalee Workers is an organization of immigrant farm workers who pick vegetables for big businesses like McDonald's.
Morello releases "One Man Revolution", his debut solo album under THE NIGHTWATCHMAN name, on April 24.
RAGE has three more shows lined up this summer as part of the Rock The Bells hip-hop tour.
